2011 Hall of Fame inductees

 

        On May 14, 2011  F.N. “Buddy” DeBardeleben, Travis “Tab” Hudson II and
the late Joe Lee Griffin Jr.  were inducted into the Birmingham Golf
Association’s Hall of Fame.
	They joined the 58 people who have gone before them into this hall of
fame, including Charley Boswell, William McWane, Sam Perry and Elbert
Jemison in its inaugural class in 1965.
	It recognizes local golfers who must reside in Jefferson County, or
one of the six counties that touch Jefferson County, for their
achievements in golf in a combination of the following: competitively,
promotionally and administratively.
	The induction ceremony was held at Pine Tree Country Club.
	DeBardeleben, a longtime member of the Country Club of Birmingham, won
the State Amateur in 1956, won the CC of Birmingham National
Invitational numerous times and played in the ‘56 U.S. Amateur.
	Tab, part of the noted Hudson golfing family from Jasper, won the
Alabama Open in 1980 and the State Mid-Amateur in ‘90. He played golf
for the University of Alabama and is a past president of the Alabama
Golf Association.
	Griffin, who passed away in 1998 and was a member at Vestavia Country
Club, built and owned Eagle Point Golf Club, which remains in the
Griffin family. He was also a fine player and great supporter of junior
golf.
